These registers and further records (communicants' roll, committee minutes, etc.) have been microfilmed and may be searched (original images, not just indexes) at PRONI, Belfast. 3. I think I may have found out why I cannot find my Twice Great Grandfathers Birth Record online. I did a search on FamilySearch.org putting in the place of birth as "Presbyterian Brigh" and the records were only from 1830 until 1870. My twice times Great Grandfather would definitely have been born prior to that as my Great Uncle William his first was born in 1838. Do you know if these records exist and if they do how to you access them? Dennis James Wright Las Vegas, Nevada

    3. Hi Further to Nivard's response. Once you open the PDF then you can use the 'find' option in your browser to look for a word -perhaps your ancestor or location. I looked up Twiss using this but there were no mentions. The article is very interesting and bears out some thoughts that I have had for ancestor chasing over the years. Neighbours in Ireland often turned out to be neighbours once they had emigrated to a new country. Also that the presence of people from a locality in Ireland (not necessarily related) having made the move to 'the new world' often inspired others back home to make the move. The second ones often stayed in the same locality and so you might see them in a census but often moved on. 2. Rose Aston
    3. Hi - I'm not sure I have sent a reply message back to the board correctly. So just in case:- Thank you to those who gave me replies to my query re Andrew Thomas STUART. I am looking for a marriage of Andrew Thomas STUART to Mary GILMOUR (GILMORE??). I know Andrew comes from the Castlestuart family and was born at Lisdhu House, Co. Tyrone in 1814. (Is this in Dungannon??) Would there be census lists which would show the family and staff/servants at Lisdhu House from around 1814 forward?? I have heard a story that Mary Gilmour may have been a servant, perhaps at the House. Her father is John as far as I know. >From her death notice in the Tasmanian papers she was born around 1824. I have traced a Mr and Mrs STEWART coming into Port Philip, Australia on the 'London' in 1840. In an obituary for Andrew I found that they arrived in 1840 and had gone farming with a fellow passenger, Olgivie, but drought forced them off and Andrew and Mary go to Tasmania by at least 1843 (third child born in Tasmania). First child, Andrew Godfrey STUART was born in Williamstown, Feb 1841. (christened in St. James Church, Melborne). In another obituary for another son of Andrew and Mary's it states that they came to Australia in 1837 and went farming before going to Tasmania. So perhaps they came as early as 1837 although the passenger list of 1840 seems the better 'fit' due to the fellow passengers by the name of Olgivie who it is said, in A T's obituary, they went sheep farming with. I do not know if Andrew Thomas and Mary left from Ireland or England aboard the 'London'. I would also like to know more about Mary GILMOUR. Looking for photo's of the STUART's too. Thanks, Rose

    3. Dennis, There is just a single townland named Ballynafeagh in Co. Tyrone and you will find it in ARBOE parish (ref. General Alphabetical Index to the Townlands and Towns, Parishes and Baronies of Ireland, 1851) Are you looking for members of the Wright family? - am just enquiring as you do not state. A William WRIGHT is recorded in Ballinafay in the 1826 Arboe tithe applotment book and a Martha WRIGHT is recorded in Ballynafeagh at the time of Griffiths Valuation of the parish (c1860). The variations in spelling may be disregarded. Don't know what you have been looking at online, but it looks incorrect. Does this help? Regards, Len Swindley, Melbourne, Australia

    3. Hi Shannah Not entirely sure I understand your problem The link you sent is a pdf, no need for Excel for viewing that If the problem is reading that pdf you would need either Adobe acrobat or a free and faster pdf reader, my recommendation would be Foxit I had a quick look through the document but did not see a spreadsheet mentioned (which would need the likes of Excel) If you are in need of a good spreadsheet program try Openoffice, a completely free office suite Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 23/09/2013 23:45, Ava Woods wrote: > Hello, > > Please, is there SKS who might know of another program which I may be able > to use with this website-- > > http://mcgrathsearch.com/files/The%20Neighbors%20in%20Ireland%2012-05-11.pdf > > instead of Excel--one that is just as good?
