    3. I have been searching forever for Edward Kelly and his wife Elizabeth. He was born between 1800 and 1803. They had 6children and I believe all were born in Tyrone. The kids were Edward 1820, Patrick 1821, John 1827, Charles 1827, Margaret 1830, and Thomas 1835. I would really like to find out what parish they came from. Any one have ideas on how to find them? Thanks for your help. Laurie Nivala

    3. *Stuarts-Stewarts* I was happy to see the new info provided on the Stuart/Stewart family! I personally still am stuck with my 3X great grandmother, Rebecca Stewart. I do not have either of her parents names and only that she was born in Northern Ireland, the family always said in Tyrone. She married John Hampton, some records spelled Hampton as Hempton. She and John had emigrated to the USA and did in Philadelphia, PA. My grandmother always told us we were descendants of a "royal" line of Stewarts but there is no proof and none of us are rich nor royal in any way! I am just looking to get past my block wall. Rebecca was born about 1822 and died 18 March 1892. Children: Rebecca, William, Mary and John. I descend from Mary Any leads are greatly appreciated. 3. Ulster History (graham madsen) My father-in-law is a Northern Irishman whose family farmed in Co Tyrone for 150 years, and who himself became a vet. I asked him Graham's question, and this is what he said: "Cows tails were often docked to enable identification. Imagine you were using shared grazing, or your (or your neighbours') fences were poor, then cattle could get mixed up and be hard to identify beyond doubt or argument. There was no health advantage in doing this." Nowadays ear clipping does a similar job, and the practice doesn't need to be limited to one farmer in an area to work! I hope this helps, Peter > ------------------------------ > > Message: 3 > Date: Fri, 15 Nov 2013 07:51:48 +1100 > From: graham madsen <[email protected]> > Subject: [CoTyIre] Ulster History > > Fellow researchers > > I have been looking into Ulster history in the 1850s and wondered if > anyone could explain the practice of cutting the tails off cows and what > it meant > > Cheers > Graham > ------------------------------

    3. Hello All. Thanks once again Margaret for providing us with another valuable posting. I searched for the videos under the name which you provided. Here is a link to the results of that search: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHnW2NAfPIA2KUipZ_PlUlw I have NOT yet looked at any of them, but is SEEMS to me that they are shown in reverse chronological order; so starting at the bottom and working our way to the top might be an ordered way to go. But then again, maybe just hop in wherever it sounds interesting. haha.
