    1. [COTIPPERARY] Coraun - Mason Family
    2. As Janet mentioned, Corraun is a more common spelling. The Corraun townland in Laois is about 35 miles from your Kilcash, so I have my doubts about that. Curraun could also be a possibility. The nearest Curraun would seem to be in Co. Waterford, about 15 miles south of Kilcash. You also mentioned Ballypatrick. Ballypatrick is in Temple-etney civil parish, immediately west of Kilcash CP. It is "interesting" that the townland of Cooloran is just 2 miles west of the village of Ballypatrick. It could be that the local people in that area indulge in a bit of elision regarding Cooloran - and they eliminate the "l" sound when speaking the townland's name...... leaving us with something similar to Coraun [we have a similar situation here in W. Mass - my grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all born here, and pronounce the name of the nearby town of Dalton without "benefit" of the letter "t". They substitute somethiing like a glottal stop to replace that letter........ like all other locals.] I don't have a lot of confidence in this suggestion, of course. But it's the nearest townland which might be possible. The fact that the bride's name is mentioned with a plain "Coraun"-identifier would seem to indicate a local placename, not needing any further clarification such as another county or distant parish. For a bit of further abuse of this train of thought [gr], there are the townlands of Cloran Old and Cloran New between 3 and 5 miles NW of Ballypatrick/Kilcash, in Cloneen civil parish.
