Clare, One more question - so does that mean I can't go back further than Patrick at this point? I have a subscription to findmypast.ie and am finding so many Gibbs in County Kilkenny, County Waterford, Dublin, County Cork and Tipperary (Fethard). But I can't seem to connect the ones in Fethard at this point, which really isn't all that far from Ballypatrick, which is where they originally ended up (and some are still there today). Annette

Annette, Looks like the Gibbs were in Fethard in the early 1700's. Have you searched the archives on the list for Gibbs - URL below.
