    3. Annette I checked to see if the Tithe applotments for the Civil Parish of Temple-etney were available online - Pat Connors has most of the Tipperary parishes transcribed on her site http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/tipp/#land but not Temple-etney I found these on Ancestry 1826 & 1827 Thomas Gibbs Coolonan Ballynockin Killerney (would think this is either a mistranscription of Killurney or a variant spelling) 1827 Thomas Gibbs Killurney I don't know if this means there were two Thomas Gibbs or he held land in both places- more likely the latter. Gibbs in Ballynoe Ballypatrick in 1826 &1827 -no personal name given. Margaret Gibbs Graigue 1827 Edmund Gibbs West Poulacapple Kilvemnon 1816 Curiously Ancestry had all these listed as in the C. P. of Templetenny not Temple-etney but I suspect that is a mistranscription. Pat Connors site has the tithes for Templetenny on her site and the listing only covers the townlands in Templetenny. The valuation books later than Griffith's are in the valuation Office in Dublin but the LDS have filmed some - if not all- so if you are near a Family History Centre you could order the film. Hope this is of use Clare On Thu, Feb 16, 2012 at 3:14 AM, Annette Gibbs <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Cindy, > > Yes, they are Patrick and Anastasia's children. 3. Clare, Thank you so very much! I am on ancestry, but not world access, so I would not have been able to see these records. I think it's time to upgrade! What does Coolonan Ballynockin mean before the Killerney? It's interesting that there is a Gibbs in Ballypatrick in 1826/27 - I didn't think they came to that area until the 1860's, when an Uncle (William Denne) of William Gibbs gave the forge to William. I wonder if William Denne was married to a Gibbs? I am definitely near a FHC and go every Tuesday to view microfilm. I will try and figure out which microfilm to order and then order it. Thanks for the suggestion and your help! 3. Annette Cooloran and Ballynockin (today Ballyknockane) are townlands near Killurney- Cooloran is to the south west of Killurney near the church at Temple-etney and Ballynockin is to the south east. They are all within a radius of a mile or so. Not sure why they are listed together in the tithe list . I know that some people are a bit dubious about Ancestry's transcription of the tithe lists. You would really need to see the original to try and work it out but as far as I know the LDS hasn't got a film of the tithes for Tipperary- I could be wrong!!
