Hi, Check out this site which gives Griffiths valuation for 1849. There is 1 Edward Meaney and 1 Edward Meany. Check out both as spelling variations is usual. There are also a number of Edmund Meanys. Put in surname and Tipperary for results. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths.php Also a couple of other sites which may prove useful are http://www.rootsweb.com/~irltip/tipperary.htm and http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/tipp/ Have you checked 1871 census for Liverpool & Birkenhead? I am trying to trace my great great grandfather Edward Meaney (date of birth not known) and his son my great grandfather also Edward Meaney who was born Tipperary c.1847 and who died suddenly in Birkenhead in 1881 at the age of 34. When he left Ireland he could have been living either in Liverpool or Birkenhead around 1871. He lived after his marriage to Catherine Ellis of Flintshire, North Wales in 1875 in Birkenhead and had 6 children: Annie (my grandmother) in 1872; Margaret Meaney c1874; Edward John Meaney c1875; William Augustus c1878 and twins Joanna and Catherine c1880. On his death certificate his occupation is given as a Coachman and I have been told his family in Ireland had something to do with horses. On their marriage certificate in 1875 his father (Edward Meaney) is given as a Car Properietor but whether this was in Ireland or the U.K. I don't know. Any help you can give as to where to start searching would be appreciated.
