The Catholic Press, Queensland, Australia - 23 August 1923 Mr Patrick Hynes, one of Waverley's most respected residents passed away at his residence, Dennison Street, on the 6th inst, after a long illness. He was a native of Tipperary Ireland, and came to Australia in 1865. He leaves one son, Patrick Hynes, who holds the position on Inspector of Stores in the Railway Department, and three married daughters, Mrs T Kerwick, Mrs James Fitzpatrick and Mrs J Vanny. The late Mr Hynes was for many years a contractor for works in connection with the Waverley Council. Although he possessed a rugged manner, his straightforward and honest way, in conjunction with a kind heart, won him a host of friends. He was always ready to assist the cause of charity; and it is safe to say that there is not a Catholic building in the eastern suburbs that has not a few bricks donated by him. Australia Death Index lists parents as John Hynes and Sarah
