Nenagh Guardian 21 July 1839 Advertisement To the Editor of the Nenagh Guardian Sir – We request you will find room in your valuable Journal for the following assertion: - As we cannot allow the humane and tender good acts of our worthy Agent, George Garvey, Esq, of Thornvale, to pass by longer unnoticed – as, for experience, we can assert that, notwithstanding his extensive employments in Leinster and Munster, &c &c which is well known, he has never sold a poor man’s beast for the rent; but when he finds that the land is let too dear (on the industrious man), he does not eject, but sends two understanding and disinterested farmers to value the land, and lets it to them at a fair rent, to enable the industrious man to support his family, and pay his rent tot e satisfaction of both parties. Oh! happy, thrice happy, for Ireland if every gentleman in his capacity (and the Noblemen who employs them) would adopt and pursue his morals – as, in our opinions, it would be a greater means of promoting peace and tranquility in Ireland, than all the military force that can be procured. May God protect Garvey wherever he is seen; His health in full bumpers, long life to the Queen. Castle . . .
