I am seeking information about the Tipperary family of Edmond PURCELL and Mary DWYER. Their son Edmond (born circa1787 near Thurles) and his wife Mary RYAN (born circa 1802, Tipperary) sailed as assisted immigrants with their two children Edmond (abt 12 yrs) and Mary (abt 16 yrs), on the vessel Glenswilly, which departed Plymouth, England, on 26 Nov 1840 and arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, on 11 March 1841. Edmond PURCELL married Mary RYAN at Upperchurch in 1822. According to the shipping records, their fathers were farmers. Mary's father was Edward 'Ned' RYAN and her mother's first name was also Mary. Their daughter, Mary PURCELL was born about 1825 in Drumbane, near Thurles. Their son, Edmond PURCELL, was born circa 18 Mar 1827 in Tipperary. The Upperchurch 1829 Tithe Applotments list Edmond PURCELL in the townlands of Ballyboy and Cappaghnaleigh, parish of Upperchurch, Templebeg. An Edward and Mary PURCELL are listed on the Griffiths Valuation for 1851 as tenants in Tipperary, North Riding, Barony of Kilnamanagh, Upper, Union Thurles, Parish of Upperchurch and Townland of Gortkelly (landlord Andrew RYAN).
