James COSTIGAN, farmer, married Eliza DOUGHERTY (DOHERTY) in 1838 at the RC Church in Moneygall, Offaly. That parish covers a portion of neighboring Tipperary. The Costigans probably lived in Tipperary. Their son John was baptized at Moneygall in 1839. Their second child, William, was born in 1844 at Newburgh, Orange County, New York, USA. As an adult John advertised in a Boston newspaper seeking to locate his Tipperary cousins. Any information about the Irish origins of this family would be gratefully received.
