    3. Greetings and Happy St. Patrick's Day to the Tipperary Listers! The Sadlier Families have roots in Donohill going back to the late 1700s. Clement and Bridget O'Dwyer gave birth to GGF Thomas in 1834. Thomas married Honora Kelley in 1860. Their children were Mary, Margaret, John, Matthew, Johanna, (GF) Patrick, Clement, Elizabeth, Catherine, Ellen and Honora. The early children were born in Cappawhite, the middle children were born in Moheragh and the later children were born in Cashel. During the 1890's the children began to immigrate to the US - Chicago. The remaining family lived the Moor on Chapel Lane in the late 1890's and early 1900's. Thomas was a Cattle Dealer. He, his wife and son (GF) Patrick immigrated to Chicago in 1903. Elizabeth married a Michael Ryan in Cashel in 1898 and both immigrated to Chicago in 1903. While living on Chapel Lane, (GF) Patrick met (GM) Margaret Ryan who's parents were Michael and Anna. Michael was a Bootmaker. Their children were Stephan, Margaret, Anne all born in Cashel. (GM) Margaret immigrated to Chicago in 1903 too. She and Patrick Sadlier were married in Chicago in 1904. The Ryans remained in Cashel, Ireland. Regards, Tom Sadler, Sister Bay, Wisconsin, USA

    3. Tom, Things to watch for: At one time 12 acres of Soloheadbeg were in Donohill Manor; One of my Soloheadbeg ancestors continued to reference that he lived in Donohill even though the boundaries had changed. Parts or all of Donohill were at one time or another in Cappawhite, Toem, Aghacrew, and Kilpatrick, and for 200 years there was no church in Donohill and the people used Toem. You family might be showing in any of these placenames. 3. This seems to be the Protestant line: John Sadlier b. 1632 of London & Ballintemple who came to Ireland in 1660's had Clement Sadlier of Ballintemple [Dundrum] [John's 3rd son] who m. Grace Chadwick dau of William Chadwick of Ballinard. They had: 1) Clement William Sadlier d. c. 1771. He had Wiliam Sadlier d. 1791 of Shronell. He had Clement Sadlier who m. Johanna Scully of Shronell. They had William b. 1807 of Shronell & James d. 1881 & John 1813-56, a banker. Clement who d.c. 1771 held lands in Bruis' Lattin & Shronell. 2) Nicholas d. 1762 of Golden Garden; he had Richard 1741 - 1823 of Golden Garden & Sadlier's Wells; He had Richard 1781 - 1834 of Sadliers Wells & Nelson Street; he had Richard d. 1877 of Sadliers Wells. 3) Richard d. 1774 of Holycross; he had Clement of Holycross & Rathcommon; he had Richard who married in 1783 and he of Holycross & Nelson Street & Scalaheen; he had Richard 1785 - 1845 of Scalaheen & he had Thomas L. 1860 of Henry Street. The 2nd son of Richard m. 1783 was James Sadlier of Brookville who married Elizabeth Clarke dau of Rev Marshal Clarke; they had James R. Sadlier 1820 - ? of Brookville and he had Marshal 1893 - 1964 of Brookville. The 3rd son of Richard m. 1783 was William 1797 - 1869 of Scalaheen; he had Richard 1835 - 1903 of Scalaheen & Henry of Lattin & James of Roesborough. We would love to connect/ prove the Catholic line to this, particularly the main Shronell line. The usual but not only connections might be: 1) a marriage between religions; 2) a conversion; 3) an illegitimate child with a Catholic mother. Do you have a marriage record for Clement m. Bridget O'Dwyer? i.e. is it possible Johanna Scully died young and Clement remarried to Bridget O'Dwyer?
