This discussion is certainly pertainent to genealogy and many on this list seem to be curious as to why the RC Chuch has been so negative about letting us see "their" records. It seems by this article that I and others who have believed this for years have been correct. This goes against the agreement by the LDS and the Vatican back in the 1980's to let the LDS film the parish registers where ever the church "owns" the records. In return, the LDS promised and delivered free copies to the vatican. But as we all know, the real power lies in the local diocese and some complied with the agreement, and others did not. The reason(s) for those that did not, one being Cashel & Emly, is the whole point of this discussion. Dan Hogan but this does look to be of some concern if the RC church could take this further and embargo all films http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0802443.htm Dan Hogan hogan-4@sbcglobal.net Enjoy the updated website for the Civil War Reenactment Society: www.cwrs.info !
