Brenda, Thank you so much for your help. I will print your response so I can show it to others when they tell me there is no such place. My Grandfather told me everything his father had told him about Bishopswood, but people who never heard of the place just don't want to believe it ever existed. Best regards to you, Patty Brenda Pilson <brendapilson@yahoo.com.au> wrote: Hi, Bishopswood is a townland in the civil prish of Kilmore in South Tipperary in Kilnamanagh Lower Barony. My family is Godsell and they were not Catholic. They lived in a Townland called Bishopswood, which is non-existent today. I found it on a very, very old map which I was able to get from County Tipperary about 5 years ago, but have now lost the map. Three of the sons of my Edward Godsell emigrated to the U.S. in the 1840-1850's, one of whom is my Great Grandfather. I do have his Naturalization Papers, but have nothing else other than his farm and burial site in Kansas, USA as well as family history that has been passed down verbally. I don't know when my Edward Godsell died, but have always been told it was after 1856 and one descendant of his has said that he wife, Margaret Sarah McGregor, married a Henry Howard around 1856. Edward, Margaret Sarah and Henry Howard all died in Ireland.
