Hi all, I, too, am frustrated by the new IFHF system. For example, I pulled all the Quillinan's on Limerick and am not at all surprised to find lots that I didn't have, but I am really surprised to find ones I already had missing from their database or just not coming up for some reason. Part of the problem would be the corruption of the names in the database, and I have already spotted some typos that would prevent anyone ever finding their relative. It appears then that we are dealing with the same problems that we have already found with the TFHR database. I can well understand your frustration. Having said that we are also dealing with the same copyright problems as we have battled with the Archbishop. The conclusion would seem to be the same - NOTE - Please do NOT post the identical format for the data as it is received or shown coming from IFHF as they have a perfect right to copyright their format. They cannot, however, copyright the data itself - BAPTISM DATES, MARRIAGE DATES, NAMES, ETC. If you wish to offer information, please completely change the format and do not reference where you got the information, only that it comes from a baptism or marriage record in your possession. Do not expand past the data itself. It would be best just to post the data in on of the BDM databases for Co. Tipperary. Remember the IFHF database for So. Tipp is hopeless at this point and your choices of what to pay for deceptive as so many records are just not there to choose from. So, to repeat, do not post formats under copyright to this list or we will end up losing our list. If anyone persists in trying to flaunt this, you will go on moderate and then probably get banned because I am not about to have our list in trouble. While I am on my soapbox, please also remember to change the subject of your message when appropriate and never allow the subject to be a digest heading. I don't even open those because if you don't care enough to reference your query properly, I won't care enough to read it. And snip, snip, snip those replies. For newbies - that means don't just hit the reply button and start typing. Take those few seconds it needs to delete from the message being replied to all that is not necessary to be there. The last thing I want to see is an entire days digest of messages on a reply. So - hit reply, SNIP the message being replied to if needed, and then type your heart out. If anyone has any questions about any of these matters, please reply directly to me personally, do not hit reply to this message and do not imagine for a second that we will appreciate your arguing this in public. Making your admin cranky is not nice. Putting our list in danger is not nice. Now I'll go have my first cup of coffee for today. Grrrrr. Janet
