The District Electoral Divisions (D.E.Ds) were originally established under the Poor Relief (Ireland) Act 1838 as poor law electoral divisions. Now a days they a called simply Electoral Districts (E.D.). **This will open to a list of all the Electroal Divisions of Tipperary County; http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tipperary Click on an ED and a list of all of the Townlands within the ED appear. Click on the Townland name and the surname of those living in the townland for the 1901 Census will display. Ed Thanks for that very interesting site. There is another series of maps for EDs that I have found very helpful. They are on the www.logainm.ie site. If you click on information resources and scroll down to Historical maps -Boundaries - there are four maps that show all the administrative and electoral divisionsof the country.. Tipperary being in the middle of the country -as it were - one half of the county is in the South West map and the other in the South East.
