    1. [COTIPPERARY] Farrells from New Inn, County Tipperary
    2. Sir: I've done a lot of research successfully as to my Irish ancestors; however, I don't know how or where to begin in a search for my late wife's great-grandather. John Farrell, of New Inn, County Tipperary. At some time before the Civil War in America (1861-1865) he emigrated to the U.S., presumably Tennessee, perhaps Memphis. In May, 1961, though married, with three cildren, he enlisted in a Tennessee Confederate Infantry Regiment (the so-called "Irish Regiment").Eleven months later, April 6, 1861, he was killed in the battle at Shiloh. What I just recited is all we know of him.Not known whether he had siblings;whether he married in Ireland or in the U.S; the name of his wife. My wife's grandmother was his 3 month old daughter when he was killed, so she knew little or nothing of her father's ancestry. if anyone has a suggestion as to what records for County Tipperary are available online. I would appreciate hearing of them/ Gene.
