    3. Hi, all! My Tipperary brick wall goes back a bit. I guess I'm lucky to know a region, at least, but someday I'd love to figure out a townland, too. 1. My great-great-grandfather, Martin Haigney, emigrated to the U.S. in about 1852, and  enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve at the federal arsenal in Watervliet, N.Y. Army enlistment records from 1854 list his birthplace only as "Tipperary, Ireland." He married Mary McMahon (or Mahon) in 1857. I have a newspaper article in which their oldest daughter is interviewed and says both of her parents were born in Tipperary. 2. I am also researching Patrick Haigney, who settled in Troy, N.Y. His Declaration of Intent says he emigrated in 1852 from Ireland, but does not specify any location. I believe he and Martin may be related. The surname has many possible spellings (i.e., Haighney, Heigney, Hagney, Higney, Hegney, etc.). Let's try a rollcall and see what happens.<<<
