Owen Keefe, son of Thomas Keefe of Ballyrobin, Kilcornin parish (mother unknown) married Bridget Bircury/Berkery, daughter of John Berkery of Longstone, Lattin/Cullen parish (mother unknown) in Longstone in 1869. Their son William Keefe was born in 1876 and follows his older brother Thomas to Torrington Connecticut in 1899. John Lillis (parents unknown) married Julia Bircury/Berkery (parents unknown) in 1859 in Longstone, Lattin/Cullen parish. Their daughter Julia was born in 1878 and followed her sisters Mary, Bridget, and Honora to Troy New York and then went to Torrington to marry William Keefe (now O'Keefe). Their daughter Bridget was my grandmother. The two main mysteries for this part of my family are whether and how Bridget and Julia Berkery were related - the name Berkery is uncommon enough and both were from Longstone - and so how closely related were my great-grandparents? The second is what happened to the family who did not emigrate. A priest named Father Brian Callanan was a cousin who came to visit when I was young (he was about my parents ages so would be in his 70's now). He was a missionary in the Phillipines and eventually left the priesthood. I would love to be able to find him. Michael Tobin (parents unknown) married Bridget Commerford, daughter of Nicholas Commerford and Mary Dee, married in Ballyneale about 1848. Their son Michael was born in 1848. The whole family (Commerfords included) emigrated soon after Michael was born to the Albany NY area. The only remaining question for this branch of my family were Michael Tobin's parents. Any thoughts would be welcome!
