    3. Arthur, There is quite a bit of information here on the family in Ireland: http://baggetthistory.com/irish_data.html Don't know if any of it will help you. Looks like my lot wil descend one way or another from Edmond of Baggotstown. 3. Thanks, Chris. I should have known that! Of course, the Protestant marriages were first registered in 1845! I never thought of looking at them but recognize some of the names and would like to look at the records. Thanks. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

    3. Thanks, Arthur. It doesn't help me at the moment, but after I finsh the records, I will dig into what I might have tucked away that I don't know I have. I have never bothered to work on the Baggot line until all these connections popped up in the mid-1800's. 3. Hi, Janet Here is a quote from my book CARDEN OF BARNANE. At about this time [1698] Jonathan Carden married Bridget Bagot. Eliza Jones, Jonathan's great grand-daughter, wrote that Jonathan lost the Templemore property on being disinherited for marrying a Papist, a Mistress Bagot, who was nearly descended from Charles II, adding, "the old people in the lands of Barnane used to say that my father was but three removes from Charley. There was old plate at Barnane which had . . . the Stuart arms upon it, and I have an old seal (crystal) with her arms on one side and the Carden arms on the other. Sir Lionel Carden wrote a monograph on this subject which can be seen at the library of the Society of Genealogists in London. This is the only evidence that her maiden name was indeed Bagot. Possibly she was a descendant of members of the Bagot family who emigrated to Ireland in the 17th century, of whom Eleanor Bagot married Robert Cawarden of Mavesyn Ridware about 1500. Their only son John was born on 11 May 1699. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? If so, I would love to hear from them. Arthur Carden of Horsham, England. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janet Crawford" <reojan@gmail.com> To: <cotipperary@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2008 10:30 PM Subject: [COTIPPERARY] Baggot family > Is anyone researching the Catholic branches of the Baggot family? 3. Well Lads this thread brought back some memories and a chuckle. Years ago as a building inspector in North Carolina I had to meet with a home owner and one of the County Sanitarians over the proposed location of a residential swimming pool. The sanitarian had been the original inspector for the septic tank installation, however, his records did not show the location of the drain field in relation to the septic tank or the house. After some time probing for the field he said 'There's a better way' and went off to his car. He returned with two brass welding rods with a short bend in one end. The home owner looked a me a said 'You've got to be ******* me.' Having never seen the sanitarian doing this be fore all I could do was shrug my shoulders and watch. He proceeded to walk around the yard and as the rods crossed and uncrossed he marked out an area on the ground. A few probes and he said 'There it is.' As building commenced his verdict was verified. I met the homeowner many times over the years and he would always mention it and shake his head. 3. Kathleen, I don't have more Kilcornan or Pallasgreen unfortunately. Unless LDS has it on a film somewhere, the only option is the NLI in Dublin right now. You are welcome on the information I have been able to post, all of you, but soon I will run out of gifts and then we must all do genealogical acts of kindness for each other. If anyone is looking at a film, please do a month or two and share on the list. Doesn't matter which C & E parish. What I have noticed with my own family is that I can come up with lines, but the connections are back into the 1700's, or even before that. People didn't move around much. We must then keep plugging away at the books and newspapers for more information. With every line we can move back in time, we gain a lttle more data to work with. My family is from Longstone and Ballyrobin -- which are right next to each other but are divided between the Kilcornan and Cullen civil parishes. The two names I'm most interested in, Berkery (Barragry, Bercory, Bircury) and Keefe, only show up in the Kilcornan Griffiths, but the marriage and baptismal records for the family from the 1860's-1880's are in the Lattin/Cullen records you posted. Ballyrobin and the half of Longstone in Kilcornan sit in the Pallasgrean Catholic parish and the records go down to 1811. Do you know of any way to access those records? I have a feeling that I might find some missing links there. When I came to Tipperary four years ago I visited an old -- pretty large -- cemetary between Pallasgrean (old) and Longstone that had a number of Keefe and Berkery graves and I copied as many as I could, but haven't made any of the connections to my known family members. > > Thanks again for all you do. > Kathleen

    3. Pat, Here is what Tim said... Christina, The source is LDS film of the civil registration entries. The entries are the same that you can get from the General Registrar Office in Roscomon. They and indexes are at familysearch.org. The registrar districts are in alphabetical order. Roscrea, Tipperary and Thurles for example are all on Vol 10 of each year until 1864. There are about 18 films for the years I did. As a sample, 1849 is 101311, 1850 is 101321, 1851 is 101331. From what I put up, it should be very easy to order the full entries from Roscommon. The only thing really missing is the townland and parish of residence for the bride and groom. Tim
