    1. [COSANJUA] 1922 Obit
    2. Does anyone know how I would go about finding an obituary notice for Cornelius "Neely" Carver, who died in Silverton on Feb. 15, 1922, age 54? He was buried in Hillside Cemetery and I have the info from Freda Peterson's book. But I'd really love to get a copy of his obit if there was one. Thanks for any help. Ann in South Carolina

    1. [COSANJUA] John Carver
    2. Am looking for information on JOHN CARVER, my gg grandfather, who is listed on the 1900 census as living at a hotel on Mineral Street in Silverton, a widower, and working in the silver and gold mines. He moved to Colorado between 1877 and 1880, from Willsboro, NY. He was born in Ireland in 1840. Perhaps someone could tell me what Catholic Church in Silverton he might have attended in 1900? That might give me some leads. Also, if someone could do a lookup for him in earlier census lists, I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks, Ann

    1. Samuel/Abraham Johnson
    2. L. Grantham
    3. I appreciate the suggestion that I get newspaper article pertaining to Samuels death. Perhaps I should explain why I've not gone the newpaper route to find my Johnson. The letter quoting 1895 was written 60 years after the event. The thought comes to mind: Why was that man reading a Cincinnatti paper. He's not from Cinn. nor is his wife. He is 150 miles from Cinn. but he is 70 miles from Columbus. To search the 112 rolls of film for 1894-95-96 for both cities would take about the same amount of hours. (I'm a fast reader). These are interlibrary loan rolls. At $12.00 per hour for someone to take care of my husband , $3.00 per roll even if found the right roll in the first 25 rolls Its a "no way Jose". Ohio Historical Soc will not do newspaper research. I appreciate the suggestion tho. I was really hoping that someone could tell me if the various counties have books of death records. Should have asked that question. Please consider it asked. I thought as this man may have had a family in Colo: Perhaps someone would recognize their ancestor. I want to thank all of you for reading my query. And for the replies I've gotten. Especially those who took the time to check materials that they owned to find my evasive grandparent. 3. I am posting this to warn others about problems with ; Census Microfilm Expeditors 476 E. South Temple , Suite 4 Salt Lake City , UT 84111 website ; www.censusmicrofilm.com e-mail ; gme@nwinfo.net and ; sj@censusmicrofilm.com I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with "guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" . My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at this firm . In his occasional replies he repeatedly gave false information to me as to the status of the order and cashed the check when mentioned stopping payment on it .I have copies of all documents and correspondences for those interested . Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors , they have informed me that even they can't order this company to give a refund , but may seek criminal charges . I guess small claims court is next . If you are seeking genealogy resources......consider my experiences with this "Firm". Thank you , Kenneth Sartin researching ; Sartin , Sartain , Sarton , Sarten , Sardin etc. etc.

    1. Samuel/Abraham Johnson, Washington Co. Oh to Colo
    2. L. Grantham
    3. Am resending this because I'd forgotten that it was necessary to subscribe to these mailing lists. And I've now subscribed. Looking for a Johnson needle in the Colorado haystack. Samuel (also used Abraham) Johnson was born c 1823 in Ohio. He mar. 1849 Sarah NEWELL, had one son ASA, div. in 1851, mar Virginia HALL in 1851. About 1879 he left her and their two daughters and went to Colo. According to a granddau c 1895 a article was in Cinncinnatti paper asking for the whereabouts of ASA and his two sisters, Rosa/Rosannah, mar CONLEY, Lucy mar?YATES or ?BURNFIELD. This was in regards to an estate in Colo. No one knows where the estate was nor Samuels exact death date. So far as is known the children never looked into matter. The two daus. may not seen a Cinncinnatti paper. I think one had moved to WV by that time. ASA had his own troubles. It is not known whether there was a third mar. in Colo. Can anyone give me suggestions as to where to look? Is there a unclaimed estate dept. in Colo? Any help will be most appreciated. L Grantham grantha@futureone.com All I want is when and where did Samuel die? Did he have a third family? A divorce record was never found for Virginia (HALL) JOHNSON but she did remar. As did his first wife. Thank you all for your patience

    1. Långström/Longstrom
    2. Jerry Longstrom
    3. Greetings from Arizona, I am still searching for a relative that lived and worked in Silverton Co. Magnus Michael LÅNGSTRÖM, he came from Bohuslän Sweden to Silverton Co. and was in the miners dues books in 1909. He has disappeared after that. A relative that lives in Silverton said his father told him that he may have gotten into trouble with the law???? (this relative is very nice, but not at all interested in genealogy) :) :) Is he like to anyone you know? :) Magnus may have also changed his name to ARMSTRONG ???? He may have been married. Also looking for two other Långström. Edward Samuel & Hannibal. They may have been in Silverton at one time. So far, research has shown me that all the Långströms changed their name to LONGSTROM when arriving in the US. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jerry Longstrom....Peoria, AZ 85381.... jel@netvalue.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The most wasted of all our days are those in which we have not laughed" Edward Postel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
