    1. [CORNISH-GEN] "Wastrel"
    2. RAY WORDEN
    3. Hi, A term in common parlance to this day round these parts and refers to a piece of neglected or untended land. In fact, we have a piece of "wastrel" right opposite where I live which has lain idle ever since I can remember and is supposed to belong to some chap from "up Bude," but after all this time, I don't think anyone knows for sure who owns it. Regards, Ray in Delabole Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2012 08:42:18 +0000 From: Joy Hungerford <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [CORNISH-GEN] West Briton, 7 Nov 1856 News, part 2 To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" > LOW PURCHASE. - A house, containing two large rooms, with a wastrel, situated in the front street of the borough of Tregony, was purchased, land free, by James Allen, alias Jemmy Carey, dealer in marine stores, of Mrs. Martha Vennard, for the sum of four pounds. This use of 'wastrel' is not one I've encountered before. No luck in finding a sensible definition, dear listers. What do you think it is? Kind regards Joy in the Garden of England
