Hi Marjorie, The reason that I posted this is that I wasn't aware of the connection between Caroline and Kate (Katie, Kitty, Kit) although it slowly dawned on me. I am sure that there are others in this position. Interestingly my ancestor was a Caroline KING who was born in St Austell about 1834 although I have never been able to find her baptism. For those of us with Scottish heritage other variations of Jane are Jean, Janet, and Jessie.
