    3. I am looking for any information about the above person. The information I have is : 1841 Census with Parents James & Mary (nee Hammill?) in St Ives 1851 Census with Parents James and Mary in Madron.and In 1859 he married Alice Pearce b 1838 in St Ives Parents William Pearce and Ann Trewhella, Penzance District, believe in St Erth 1861 Census with Wife Alice and Daughter Alice in St Ives 1871 Census Alice is in St Ives and marked as Married but no sign of Benjamin 1881 Census Alice is in St Ives and marked as Married but no sign of Benjamin 1891 Census Alice is in St Ives and marked as Widow I have not found a Baptism for Benjamin nor any mention of him in any English Census after 1861 I do wonder if he went to America but all the ones I have found were married to someone else.     3. Do not assume that just because someone you found in America was married to someone else, that it must not be your man. I have several men who left Cornwall for America, Australia, Africa, etc., who just married again in their new country and never went back, without any divorce. I also have more than a few women who were abandoned in Cornwall who later reported themselves as widowed while the man who abandoned them was still alive. Divorce was not common at that time, and people just made "other arrangements."
