Hi, Joanne in Toronto and everybody, Thank you ever so much for your information on Donnithorne! It’s the thoughtfulness and kindness of folks like you and the other listers here that make this passionate hobby, no ~ compulsion, so fun and worthwhile. I will try to pass your help forward! Here is where I got the idea that Hugh PHILLIPs and Elizabeth DONNITHORNE married in Perranzabuloe. The research was done by Dennis Ivall for me 20 years ago. The England and Wales BMD Marriage index has Elizabeth Donnithorne and Hugh Phillips (page 297 of index) marrying during the April/May/June 1839 quarter in Perranzabuloe. Better information is found in the original marriage register of Redruth parish: " 3 April 1839 HUGH PHILLIPS of full age, Bachelor, Miner, of Bere Ferris [sic: BERE FERRERS], Devonshire, (Father, William Phillips, farmer) married ELIZABETH DONNITHORNE, a minor, Spinster, of Redruth. (Father, Thomas Donnithorne, smith) Bride and Groom both signed. Witnesses: John Donnithorne and G. F. Stevens." So, I am going to change my records on their marriage from Perranzabuloe to Redruth. I get so confused with Cornish geography! But I am coming to visit in April 2013 and hope to get it all straight in my head. We are having The First International PHILLIPS of Nance Cornish Clan Gathering for descendants of the above Hugh’s parents, WILLIAM PHILLIPS and ELIZABETH WITHIELL. I will be sending more info on this the end of October with details. Thanks again, Joanne. Meli in Texas
