    3. Bill, Strange that the week before (22nd Aug 1856) the WB got it right - "At Trethewell, in the parish of St. Just in Roseland, on Tuesday last, Mr. JOHN BORLASE, builder, aged 28 years." BMDs, death of John BORLASE It would appear that The West Briton (Friday, 29 Aug 1856) made a geographical error in reporting the death of John BORLASE: > DEATHS. > > At St. Just in Penwith, Mr. JOHN BORLASE, aged 28 years. This death was reported right in the midst of deaths occuring in Penwith, where St. Just in Penwith is located. However, if this man had died at St. Just in Penwith, there would likely be a civil death registration at Penzance and/or a burial record in that parish. There is neither. On the other hand, the death of a John BORLASE was registered at Truro during 3Q1856. Moreover, there is record of the burial of John BORLASE, 27, of Trethewel, at St. Just in ROSELAND on 21 Aug 1856. One plausible theory is that an informant advised the newspaper of the death of John BORLASE at "St. Just" (full stop), with the newspaper subsequently making the wrong guess as to which St. Just.
