Margaret, Have you tried the gazetteer on GenUKI Cornwall? I didn't find your name, but I did try looking at St Keverne nearby places and saw a few possibilities. (370 years is time enough for place names to vary!) I looked at the Protestation and it looks very much like a tithing of St Keverne. There are 19th century tithe maps for all of Cornwall and the St Keverne one might help. (Possibly the relevant OPC - Diane Donohue or Terry Moyle would have a copy. Actually, knowing Diane, I'd say that was very likely.) Margaret I have had no success in my endeavours to locate Tregarren within St Keverne parish. However, there is a small settlement called Tregarne which is due north of St Keverne village. There is also a Tregarne Mill nearby. I am wondering if, perhaps, your Tregarren is a corruption of Tregarne. The St Keverne Local History Society mentions Tregarne as follows: *The manor of Tregarn extending to St. Anthony and other parishes mentioned in the Domesday Book was the property of Leofric first Bishop of Exeter in the reign of Edward the Confessor and William 1. It afterwards became the possession of the Earls of Cornwall. Subsequently for many generations it belonged to the Arundel family. In 1757 it was sold by Rtichard Arundel, Esq., of Lanhern to William Lemon, Bart. From whom the Manor descended to his sister’s son colonel Tremayne.* Colin Ward CFHS 10787 On 25 January 2013 12:32, Ken Ozanne <[email protected]> wrote: > Margaret, > Have you tried the gazetteer on GenUKI Cornwall?
