Hi Philip, Thank you for that information. Yes it is possible that she was in an asylum or workhouse in 1851, but I still thought that her name would appear in the Census in Cornwall. Yes, her daughter Emily died aged 5 years, the burial record giving the Lower Rd. Helston address as her residence. I am wondering if there are Bodmin Asylum records for the 1870's available online? Hi Rowena , I have an entry from the 1850's from the Cornwall Record Office & it was very detailed too , so its worth finding out if they have the one you want . There were some names on the census , first of all , only initials , later census , some names of patients & staff . Hope this maybe of some help .
