Hi Dee, Further to Barb's message re the death of a William GROSE in 1912, the census of Newcastle, Ontario in 1901 shows that this William GROSE with a birthdate of December 8, 1840. He was then living with his widowed mother Rebecca GROSE (born June 11, 1813). Both his birthdate and his mother's name seem to exclude him as your man.
