    1. [CORNISH-GEN] Questions re Thomas, Knight, Rogers families, Redruth & Illogen

    3. Hi All -   Thanks to Find My Past's "free" weekend, my research into these families has advanced quite a bit, but now I have outstanding questions, of course.  Perhaps someone has information, and can help? William Thomas of Redruth and Margaret Knight of Illogen married in Redruth 1788. They had John Thomas, 1790 - 1868, and Peggy Knight Thomas, 1789 - 1856. John married Eleanor EVA in 1815; I've already asked about their children- still can't identify which William Thomas b. 1816, Redruth, in the censuses was born to this pair. (there are 3 candidates thusfar).   Their son John b. 1818, married Eliza James in 1843, and moved to Kent, then on to Yorkshire, where they lived to a good old age.  Their sons Henry and James emigrated to the U.S in 1850; Henry then went to Australia the following year.  (so there's no record of his emigration from the U.K. to Aus.)  But I digress...... Peggy Knight Thomas married John Rogers in Camborne, 1816.  They had the following 11 children (that I know of): Henry Knight Rogers, b. 1817............................................................. Charles, b. 1826.............................. Harriet Jane, b. 1831 Margaret Rogers b 1819, d. 1899 - married John Tangye Jr.................................................................. Louisa, b. 1834 Wm. Henry Rogers b. 1819................................................................... Marianne, b. 1827 Mary Rogers, b 1822 - married Henry Eddy................................... Matthew, b. 1828 Richard Rogers, b 1824........................................................................... John, b. 1829 Henry Eddy, son of Peter, a miner, gave his occupation as "gentleman" on the marriage register.  I can't find him in the 1851 census, nor the pair of them in the 1861.  Where might they be hiding?  Did they emigrate, or move to a different county?   He MAY be the Henry baptized 3 Sept 1823 , St. Just in Penwith, son of Peter and Mary (it seems likely),and might be the "assistant" in 1841 living in Camborne with John Barse & family.   Would anyone know what happened to Harriet Jane?  I haven't been able to locate her in FreeBMD - nor any death/burial records, nor in any census. Tis a puzzlement.   Lastly, Ellen Eva Thomas, dau of John and Eleanor (couple no. 1 above) lived for years with the Tyack family, and in the last census in which she appears, 1901,  Elizabeth Tyack, widow, is living with her COUSIN Ellen Eva Thomas.  But I haven't discovered a link to the Tyack family in the John Thomas/Eleanor Eva lines. I'd hoped it might have come through the Rogers, but haven't found it there, either.   Might anyone have a clue? Thanks for any ideas or links.    Julia M.   West Briton Transcriptions, 1836-1856 at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wbritonad St. Austell Area History and Genealogy at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~staustell
