To: <cornish-gen@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <9EFBA03735294F32BF05C8F029F12D0A@JMDeGraffPC> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I'm looking for some guidance on next steps I can take to find a death or burial record for my 2x great-grandfather, William RULE. So far I've had no luck and I've tried everything I can imagine. I've located William RULE, his wife Elizabeth M., and their children Thomas J. and Albert G. in the 1901 U.K. Census for Cornwall. In the 1911 U.K. Census I've located the same Elizabeth M. RULE, listed as a widow, with two grandchildren living with her at the same address as in 1901. Clearly this William RULE died sometime between the two censuses. I've checked FreeBMD and FreeREG for registered deaths and burials using all name variants I can imagine for the target period, but with no luck. I've also checked the U.K Government Search-Will-Probate site and the FindMyPast site without success. Does anyone have ideas about what to do next? Is it possible that the death was registered, but it doesn't show up on FreeBMD? Would it be worth requesting a search through the Cornwall Registry Office? The 1911 census lists Elizabeth RULE's status as 'wife', which is then crossed out and replaced by 'head'. It also states that her marriage had lasted 26 years, which is then crossed out. I know that they were married in 1985, so does this mean that William died shortly before the 1911 census? Appreciate any ideas on what to do next. Jim DeGraff Houston, TX Jim, I found these on Free BMD but without knowing the DoBirth for Willam Rule it is difficult to know which one it is, if any. Katryn Atkin.
