Hello All Please may I make a plea to those of you who find transcription errors in our OPC database (at http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/) to continue using the error reporting form. This has operated successfully for a few years now. For many records, our db is more accurate than that of the LDS and we'd like to make it even more error-free. I think this may have been what the gentleman from LDS was discussing last week, but I didn't understand it was still in development, not yet ready for full implementation, so mistakenly told the list corrections were being accepted before that was true. Per the LDS forums website, in reply to a question about transcription mistakes in the database - "We are aware of any incorrect information but however we are unable to accept additions or make any corrections to the searchable database at the present time on the web site www.familysearch.org . Later this year we will introduce a feature which will enable you to post information from other sources and your information and the information from the original transcription will both be capable of search by the search engine. This will permit the researcher to compare the result found in the search with the original image in future. We are currently testing this feature and hope you will find this enables you to contribute to the accuracy of the information we provide online free of charge." It's certainly something we've looked forward to for some time!!! Regards, Julia (PS - a kind person suggested my signature block was causing my messages to the List to "bounce". Perhaps, but Rootsweb says it's my IP... so, maybe it will get through, maybe it won't!)
