    3. I was interested to see Blanche's comments "(I know how I'd like to describe the Vicar!!)" in an earlier posting. I came across the following marginal comment in the Stoke Climsland Register of Burials (thanks LDS for the splendid images!); the comment refers to the illegitimate child of my great-grandfather's eldest daughter from his first marriage (I'm a descendant of his second marriage!). Burial Sept 16th 1885 - Frances Bessie Goodman Harvey, Infant (5 months). "The above was the child of Ellen Elizabeth wife of Robt. John Wearing Harvey of this parish. The said RJW Harvey had been abroad for more than a whole year immediately before its birth, and the said child was acknowledged by the said EE Harvey to be the issue of her adulterous intimacy with a young man of this parish, who at this date is, I am informed, in a foreign country. R.H. Manley, Rector Stoke C." This kind Rector goes on to make a number of other comments regarding various burials (and baptisms). Now, can someone remind me of that biblical passage about "suffer little children to come unto me"?
