Me again Could one of my learned friends please give the intended meaning of 'dicta filia' in 17th Century Baptisms? Presumably it is the feminine equivalent of 'dictum filius' = 'named son' or 'named daughter' in this instance. Is it just a posh way of naming the child or does it mean adopted, or, perhaps, the father has been named as the father of the child who is actually illegitimate? I have already had one who is 'nothus' ie 'bastard'. Life does get interesting!
