    3. Hi Julia All the DREWs on my tree originate in Cornwall- certainly back to the early 1700s. So I doubt there is a connection. Although DREW is quite a common name down in West Cornwall it is a name which is not peculiar to Cornwall. 3. Hi Bob Unfortunately Timaru is on South Island and I will only be able to visit the North of North Island. Organising my trip to the US last year was quite complex but this is even more complex and has really tested my organisation skills. Trying to fit in with my family and friends and make sure that I don't fly for more than 8 hours at a time was very complex - hence I will be staying with my friends in the Emirates (having lived there for 11 years), then a couple of days in Singapore. I've promised myself that this will be the last of my long distance travels. I have promised my friends that I will go back to India one day and I must visit Cyprus where some of my friends have retired to and where I went to boarding school in the early 1950s. After that it will be Europe only...or better still, perhaps I will stay in beautiful Cornwall. 3. Hi Joy I have my emails set to send and receive in Plain Text which makes my life much easier. Sorry you've been having problems with your email. If you have a laptop perhaps we can help you when you come to the Bunfight? I'm coming up with Jane Hinde who you may well have BOWYERs in common with. Jane is the grandmother of my old housekeeper, Jenny. Jane lost her husband so Jenny encouraged her to join my Tuesday group and then we found she had NEWBERYs from dalwood and so Jenny and my daughter are cousins! How amazing. So, Jane and I will leave Penzance on 29th September - we are staying with a friend of mine who has a B&B in Sampford Peverell and on 30th September we have booked to go to the new Heritage Centre in Taunton, then we are staying for two nights 30th September and 1st October at The Grange Hotel, Keynsham so that we can go to the Bristol Record Office on 1st October. We will then come to the Salt House on 2nd October where I also hope to be joined by my ex-s maternal cousin who has Bristol and Irish ancestors. They are not on the list but that's no reason not to join us. Unfortunately Jane has still not worked out how to use e-mail!! She's only recently got a computer and she bought a dongle but it was faulty so she's been struggling. Yes, it was very sad news about Viv, she was a lovely lady and had really suffered with her son and suddenly it seemed that she and Mike could get their lives back together at last and then this happens. Looking forward to seeing you on 2nd. Best wishes Liz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joy Hungerford" <joyharp2010@hotmail.co.uk> To: <cornish-gen@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 30, 2010 6:24 PM Subject: Re: [CORNISH-GEN] Visit to Australia and New Zealand > > > >> At long last after months of organising I have my trip to Australia >> planned. > > Hi Liz > It all sounds very exciting! I'm also staying in Adelaide with a 3xg granddaughter of Samuel May COLENSO from Penzance - Samuel is a 5xg grandfather of my granddaughter. 3. My point exactly! There's no 'perhaps' about it. The nurserymen of Truro are part of my larger family. Examination of many original Cornish parish register entries shows clearly that my surname is written phonetically, often using a 'z' instead of an 's' and with a double 'd' showing where the stress lay, i.e. 'TREZEDDER'. A.L.Rowse in 'The Cornish in America' devotes a page to this - stating that the Cornish don't know how to pronounce their names correctly. He cites the name TRESEDER as the example. As Tom points out out - the English still don't know, and insist on trying to replace our culture with theirs, a move I for one continue to firmly resist. 2. Julia Mosman
    3. Hi All - Baptisms from 1632 through 1812 have been added to the site, and 3 in 1813 that weren't previously there. All in all, that's about 14,403 entries, give or take - some years were missing. The "search" won't cover the most recent additions, however. A bit more explanation - the "search" facility on the website hasn't spydered the site yet, so the latest updates (about 1775 on to 1813) haven't been added to the search; it doesn't know there have been additions until it spyders the site once again. In the meantime, you'll have to search by going to the Genealogy Index, clicking on Holy Trinity, then selecting the year. The search function will work as usual for marriages and burials - and all the other documents. Sorry for the confusion!!!
