    1. [CORNISH] Alfred F. Prettyman, and the "Katie Cluett"

    3. Hi all - Have had a request from a lady in Nova Scotia regarding Alfred Prettyman, who captained the "Katie Cluett", a schooner out of Fowey, which sank on the Dodman in 1917. Capt. Prettyman was married to a Nova Scotian, hence her interest. She believes there is a monument either in St. Austell or in a nearby parish to Capt. Prettyman and the "Katie Cluett", and would like to find out where it's located, and what the inscription might be. Would anyone be able to help her? I've asked Ann Hicks of CFHS, who hasn't been able to locate anything (with him going down with the ship, there's no grave), & with similar results to the Cornwall Council. Alfred was born in St. Austell Registration District, according to FreeBMD, and lived in Pentewan, according to FreeCens. If anyone has knowledge of the memorial, she'd love to learn about it. Thanks, Julia
