    3. Hi Hazel I have found the following which I hope will fill in some gaps: Redvers Tonkin joined the Army at Bodmin on 21/7/1915 5th DCLI ( Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry ) His service number was 2832. His address was given as 6 Chapel Place St Clare Street Penzance. Father Thomas Bromley Tonkin of same address as son. Medical Report Apparent Age 19yrs and 5 months Height 5 feet and 3 inches Chest expanded 34 and 1/2 inches chest expansion 1 and 1/2 inches vision 6/6 in each eye physical development Good Occupation Sawyer Discharged 18/3/1916 Soldier under age of 17 years at the date of application for discharge. GWR Records for Penzance show that Redford Charles Tonkin born 3/2/1900 joined the employment of the GWR 3/4/1916 as a Cleaner. On 10/10/1917 he was promoted to Fireman and posted to OLD OAK COMMON (OOC) which is the main locomotive depot for the GWR in London. Redvers Charles Tonkin married a Edith M Tonkin Jul- Sept 1919 in the Willesden District of London. The same district as OOC. My interest was that he worked for the GWR ( God's Wonderful Railway ) they had a class of large freight engines with numbers that ran from 2800 to 2899. I wonder if he was ever a driver or fireman on engine 2832 his service number. Cheers Roger Green Norfolk UK ----- No virus found in this message.
