Since we will be at Bodmin Gaol (what does THAT mean anyway?) I figure it must be pretty depressing looking inside. Ann Hicks drove me past it when I was there in 2004 and it looked pretty unfriendly. I decided to make red and white gingham curtains for all the windows. I will need some help putting them up, if anybody wants to help. Also, I think some good music and good aromas are in order, so I am bringing a boombox with its own generator, in case nobody has paid the elexctric bill there lately. We can play some of Jim Wearne's CDs and also the one called "When Miners Sang", about the Grass Valley (California) miners who sang in the mines. They still get together every year and sing on the steps of the local newspaper, a great tradition!!! As for the good aromas, I have some homemade pasties from my grandma's (Lavinia Thomas Rickard) recipe. I have never changed the recipe except for using Crisco instead of lard. They ar SO GOOD!!! I wish Yankee Candle company would make a scented candle that smelled like pasties baking. Jan in San Diego, where it is VERY cold for here. They say it will be in the 30s tonight!!! Yipes! We're not used to that!
