Hello Jan and Listers: In 2003, the Toronto Cornish Association hosted the Cornish AMerican Heritage Society's Gathering of Cornish Cousins at Bowmanville. We really wanted to serve splits and cream (with Strawberries, of course) but finding real splits was a concern. I stopped in a little bakery in a small town, Port Perry, and found a "bun" that seemed to suit the purposes. When the committee, made up of "real" Cornish folk, tasted the buns they declared them close enough to Cornish splits to do the job admirably. They were a cross between a bun and a tea biscuit, if memory serves. So look for something like that if you want to try splits and cream.
