Hi- From the suburbs of Boston, MA, I'm researching CORMIER and BENOIT lineages which are my wife's mother's lines in French Canada. The CORMIER side comes from Cheticamp and (I believe) the BENOIT side comes from Pomquet. Working backwards through the Cormier side: Catherine (wife's grandmother who died 1973), d/o Lubien (b. 1845 & m. Luce ROACH) , s/o Simon (m. Marguerite GAUDET), s/o Simon (m. Rosalie MAILLET) s/o Francois (?), s/o Francois (?) ........ The Benoit side begins with wife's mother, Rita BENOIT, daughter of Catherine Cormier and her husband, Andrew BENOIT (b. 1888 -in Pomquet(?), s/o (?) Remie, ....... Would appreciate any info that "Cousins" or others can supply to fill in blanks or add to what we know. Also, have a question for the list. Does anyone know if there is any collection of photos of Cormiers or the Roach families? We have found, among Catherine Cormier's belongings, an 8 x 10 photo (on canvas or some similar material) of a woman whom we suspect may be Luce ROACH (b. 1845, d.1927). There is no one alive in this branch of the family who can say for sure. We were wondering if anyone else might have a photo to compare it to. Bill Naughton billsland@aol.com
