They raised a stink about making copies from the old book, so I read the will and inventory and quit. The will is indexed as a CORLEY WILL (book 17 page 241/242) The surname in the will reads CORLEE The will names sons Christopher Corlee (their oldest child), John Corlee and Edward Corlee, daughters Elizabeth Wootten, wife Chatherine . No slaves were mentioned in the will or estate inventory, though at least one was mentioned. Problematic to Katherine having married Edward Corlew is the fact that Christopher, the oldest child of Katherine/Catherine and Edward Corlew was not named in in Robert Curtis's will. Problematic to Katherine having been our John's mother is that a John Corlee /Corlew is found in the York Co. records between 1728 and 1731. Our John was in New Kent Co in 1715, 1721 & 1723 and in Orange Co in 1735. Also, our Corleys were not known to have been in York Co. Based on the facts of who lived where when, I tend to think that this is not our John Corley. Tom Caulley Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
