    1. Re: [CORLEW] Lewis or James CORLEW of VT, NY, WI
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.corlew/98.1.1.2.1.1.1.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Sorry, this CORLEW line was from VT; any CORLEW in TN would have come from VA. This may help: Alton CORLEW age 13 was enum. 1920 in household of Rube I. [sic] CORLEW, 42, in Tiptonville, Lake Co. TN. Rube was a farmer. Reuben D. CORLEW age 22 was enum. 1900 in household of his brother, Alvin L. CORLEW, 27, in Civil District 2, Lake Co. TN. They were jailkeepers. Alvin and Ruben [sic] CORLEW, ages 8 and 3, were enum. 1880 in household of Robert CORLEW, 27, in District 3, Humphreys Co. TN. Robert's wife is Cordelia. Robert L. CORLEW age 20 was enum. 1870 in household of Thomas W. CORLEW, 47, in District 3, Humphreys Co. TN. Thomas' wife is Susan P. Robert CORLEW age 10 was enum. 1860 in household of T.W. CORLEW, 37, near Palmyra, in Montgomery Co. TN. T.W.'s wife is Susan. Robert L. CORLEW age 1 was enum. 1850 in household of Thomas CORLEW, 28, in Montgomery Co. TN. Thomas' wife is Susan; next door is William CORELEW age 39, poss. his brother. William CORLEW age 60-70 was enum. 1840 in Montgomery Co. TN with household 000002001-0011000001, plus 20 slaves. His sons are a poor fit for the Thomas and William of 1850, who would be 18 and 29. However, also enum. 1840 in Montgomery Co. TN is Benjamin CARLAE or CARLUE with household 011101-301101; Benjamin is a better fit for the father of Thomas, if not William (Jr./?). Benjamin CURLUE is enum. 1830 in Montgomery Co. TN with household 01001-21001, plus one female slave. William CORLEW age 45 was enum. 1820 in Montgomery Co. TN with household 020001-31210. My guess is that this is the same William enum. age 60-70 in 1840, and that Benjamin (age 20-30 in 1830) is one of these two sons b. 1804-1810. I believe you'll find more information at GenForum or the LDS site to take you back further. You might want to get a copy of Gary CORLEW's book, which focuses on the VA family. Happy hunting.
