I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as that of John MCGRAW of Muncie, IN which was taken at the Bowden Studio in Muncie. In addition to his name someone has identified his age as 1 year old at the time the photograph was taken and his birth date as 10 Sept 1898. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding John and his family: John J. MCGRAW was b. 10 Sept 1898 or 1899 in Delaware Co. IN to parents Joseph MCGRAW (b. 1876) and Inez FARRALL (b. 1878). John married Stella M. FULTZ (1902-1983) and together they had two children, Evelyn Pauline MCGRAW (1925-1945) and Andrew Joseph MCGRAW (1928-1996). John died in Rio Grande Co., CO on 7 Sept 1935. I'm hoping to locate someone from John's family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Please can anyone answer a question for me? The 1900 and 1910 census for Rio Grande County shows 9-pct. Can you tell me what twp that would have been? On the census reports for the area in the years 1900 and 1910 for the showing name of the head of household, state, county, under the location is shown to be 9-PCT. I am searching for the town and/or city this location designation covered in said period. Please if you are unable to answer my question, could you please recommend someone or somewhere where I might obtain the information. Thank you for your time and help. Julia
All I have is a year of 1904 for the death of Mary Catherine Crooks. Is there an index for deaths? Or will the clerks do a search when only the year is known? Jean Taylor

I am hoping someone can help me ascertain the truth in part of a family story involving my niece's ancestors. Here is the story: "My Great Grandmother, Myrtle Nix Garner, died of TB in a sanitarium in Denver in the late 1930's. The children including my grandmother, Elizabeth Nadine or Nadine Elizabeth Garner, and their father, John Garner, were living in a 'tent' city outside Monte Vista, Rio Grande, Colorado, about 3 and a half hours by car from Denver. John put the kids in an orphanage when Myrtle died. There were 5 children, I think. Nadine Elizabeth (called Pinkie) was adopted by the Ferretti's." Was there a 'tent' city near Monte Vista in late 1930's and why? Dotty Sprague Cole Lake Mary, FL
Is there anyone on the list willing to do directory lookup for Rio Grande from 1910 going back? My great grandfather was in Creston Iowa in 1900 census, in 1910 was in Rio Grande census. Am trying to find out when he moved there and if the directory shows who was with him. His name was Harvey W. Whittlesey, might have also used William H. Whittlesey. Have reason to believe he was only in Rio Grande for a couple of years and before that was in Denver CO. Thank you, Donna
