From John R Rescorla and Hannah Salvage I have Charles William, Ellen, Mary Elizabeth, Bertha Beatrice, William, Carrie, John Henry, George, Thomas H and Joseph S. What portion of the family are you descended from? Do you have any information regarding the ancestors of any of them, or what happened to the siblings? I would love to hear more about what you know of the family - I have quite a lot of info on the family back into Cornwall, and also on your Great Great Grandmother Hannah Salvage's line (and I'm more than happy to share what I have), but I don't know a lot about the more current generations. My Grandfather Andy was one of the sons who left home (at 13) and changed his name to Rescola. He never went back - never saw his father John again (as far as I know), though they both lived in Colorado the rest of their lives. My Dad never met his grandfather John. Do you know other descendents of John & Hannah or John & Nettie? Do you have any photos of them? I have a couple of John, but none of Hannah or Nettie. I would love to talk with you more about all of this, but I would rather do it directly through email rather than on such a public board. Many of his boys had run away from their father by a young age. and changed their name sor identities in some way or another. though i am finding more information out there is a town in colorado that has a city center dedicated to our family specifically one woman who I am trying to lcate her name. I have been to the town it is small and friendly and if you mention you are her decendent you are treated as royalty even after so many years. this woman saved so many lives by bringing the red cross to this small town during the war. if I locate more information I will let you know. No I don't know who Ella married, or if she was married. She may have died a spinster. That's the problem we always face when a woman marries, changes name and disappears off the radar screen. The last trace I have of her is in the 1910 census when she was 11 years old and living with her sister and brother in law in Meeker. I have her names as Ella Winnie. However, her real names may have been Eleanor Winifred. By-the-way do you have a copy of Reuben death certificate? if not I can email it to you. The only thing is I don't have your address. Daughter of William Isaac Grindstaff and sister to Henry David, Mary Elizabeth, Reuben Washington and Emma Caroline. In her sister Mary's obit (1916), it states that she is survived by two brothers and two sisters. Which indicates that Ella was alive in 1916. However in her brother Henry's obit (1935) it states that he is survived by his brother, Reuben and his sister Mrs Emma Hossack. So it would appear that Ella Winnie died sometime between 1916 and 1935. Any details on Ella Winnie Grindstaff will be appreciated. Keith.
