Sorry about that folks :( I didn't think you could post without being subscribed. Without further ado - I have noticed that if all my links turn out to be correct, and there are no milkmen in my line, then I can trace myself to Charlemagne and half the royal houses of Europe through the Cordray line. Unfortunately, I am unsure about almost all the links, including the very first one. So I ask that anyone who can shed light on this line please contact me via the list, or by private e-mail. My ancestor, Margaret (Mary) Hart, daughter of Robert Hart III and his wife Margaret Cordray. Margaret Cordray was the daughter of Josias Cordray (who d. 1679). Josias Cordray was the son of Benjamin Cordray (who d. 1684) and his wife Frances Robins. Benjamin Cordray was the son of John Cordray according to FamilySearch, but the son of Thomas according to other accounts. If you like the John Cordray version, then he is the son of John - whereas if you like the Thomas Cordray version, then he is the son of Robert. Whether you pick the John the elder or the Robert, either way, they are the child of Thomas Cordray who married Jane Morris. This Thomas was the son of Thomas Cordray and Jane Seymour (the 1st (half, if you will) cousin of the Jane Seymour who married Henry VIII. This Thomos was the son of Thomas Cordray and Jane Gray. So the royal link is from the Seymour line, through the Beauchamp line, which I will not address here, except to say that the Seymour line is claimed royal also, by virtue of a marriage of a Marshall, which I think incorrect. So I will give a brief account of tracings: John Seymour, who has the ancestral file number 9FK3-0C, married twice. It was the "other" wife (Elizabeth Darrell of Littlecote) who is the better known, by virtue of the Henry VIII connection. However, John Seymour married again to a daughter of Robert Hardon, and had a son, Roger. This Roger can be found in cases as Roger Sennore, or Roger Seamor. Roger was known to have had 4 daughters. One of them was Joan (Jane), who is also variably seen as a "Sennore" or "Seamor". If you use the www.familysearch.org site, and use their ancestral file numbers, then it is important to realize that there are more than one for many persons, especially in this line. For tracing Roger Seymour, use 9G1Q-W2 to trace him upwards to Robert I, King of France. Use 9G0C-9B to find his daughter Joan, who is both 9G0C-HC and 22NK-HC. She married Thomas Cordray who is 9G0C-PD and also 22NK-GWL. Their son Thomas is 195J-G77, ZN35-K9, 1X26-VR7, and LW0P-K9. Thomas married Jane Morris (LW0P-LG and 1X26-VSF). At familysearch, she is called "Thomas Coxwell" in one case. This is an error. She is the daughter of Thomas Morris, who is "of Coxwell". They had probably about a dozen kids. So now I am back to the diverging path of Thomas Cordray and wife Jane Morris, down to the great grandson Benjamin Cordray who married Frances Robbins who is said by some to be the daughter of Obedience Robins. I am hoping that someone can provide some documentation for this line. The beginning is Margaret (Mary) Hart, who married Mark Manlove. I have one record which shows her mother as Margaret Spicer, not Margaret Cordray. Then I would just like to work my way up - who is Josias Cordray's wife, etc.? I have had to use a number of names to find this line: Cordray, Cordrey, Corderoy, Cowdry, Cowdray, Cowdrey, Cordry, Coudry, Coudray, Coudrey, Cordery, Courdry, Courdray, Cowdery, and maybe others. This family was from Chute, Wiltshire, ENG. Please help me :) Cheers, Gregg
