In this case (and this was my point all along) Joan's word ceases to be your source--the DOCUMENT or copy thereof becomes your source. It doesn't matter how you obtained the copy--that is your source. The only time "I got this from Joan" would be a valid source is if the source is privately held familly notes, journals, or Bible entries--something not available publicly where you are noting who recorded and maintains it.
