    1. Re: copyright confusion
    2. Stephen and Carol Slotnick
    3. The front of this book states that the information within was "compiled & arranged" by Lou D. MacWethy. The next page says "Originally Published St. Johnsville, NY 1933, and then below that it says reprinted GPC Baltimore, 1969 and then the Library of Congress catalog card no. 69-17132. It also says that it was copyrighted by L. MacWethy 1933. The book is called ""The Book of Names Especially Relating to the Early Palatines and the First Settlers in the Mohawk Valley". When I first went to GPC website, I saw that the book was again republished by them this year. I figured the author probably died, the copyright ran out ( probably in 1961) and GPC picked it up in 1969 and republished it. But all this assuming can get me in trouble if somehow they do have the copyright. I know that these are public records, but I don't know how I would access the public record, the "Palatine into England" records are in London, in the British Museum, manuscript division. I have been to the copyright office site, it didn't help much, but I will go back there again and try to figure this out. I appreciate your help and input!!
