Joan, The reason it bothered me is because my parents/family were private people and their wedding photo was taken to be shared with family and members of the wedding party.....not intended to be published on the internet and in a book for all the world to see. To me it's just a matter of privacy and courtesy. I know their marriage records are public information, but nobody would ever care to search for their marriage record or even know that they existed except for family and friends. If my grandchildren would want to use the photo in a book of family history for the family that wouldn't bother me. And if they wanted to publish it I wouldn't mind since they were descendants of my parents. BUT the person with the web site and publishing the book is a complete stranger to me and doesn't know my family from Adam, so it just "feels" like an invasion of my family's privacy. So I fail to see the question or problem. Why do you feel permission is necessary to post the photo publicly? Joan
