I just joined the list tonight. I am researching the descendents of Frederick Hensel (b. 1774) and am researching all branches. I tracked one of his descendents, Levi "Bona" HENSEL (b. February/29/1832 in Tuscarawas Co., OH, d. March/11/1911) to Pueblo Co. . I requested and received a wonderful Jan. 1978 article from the Pueblo Historical Review written by Eleanor Fry. From this article, I was able to confirm that Levi was definately one of my cousins. Levi was born in OH, probably lived in Bureau Co., IL for a time, was possibly a Pony Express rider, lived in Seneca, KS in the 1860's, served as a 1st or 2nd Lt. in the Civil War, was a correspondent for the New York Times while in Seneca, KS, and then apparently went to Pueblo in the 1870's and worked for the Chieftain. My research on Levi was launched by a gift of an 1865 letter from Levi and his wife Mary Jane to another cousin. I do not know that much about his wives or whether there were any living children. One child died in Kansas. I would love to correspondent with any descendents. Does anyone know whether Eleanor Fry is living and whether some of the research sources for the article may still be available. It mentions an obituary with a picture. Linda Matthews the_guard@msn.com
