Hello, I am new to the list and wondered if anyone could help me find some information on a missing ancestor. The McIlwees lived all over Colorado beginning around 1880. In 1897 an Elizabeth McIlwee was sent to a state "asylum" in Pueblo. On the 1900 census she is listed as: Lizzie McElwee, b. 1885 in CO (Crested Butte), patient in Dr. Works Private Sanitarium. I am wondering if there is a way for me to check records and see if she died there or was released. The newspaper (Aspen Times) accounts said basically that she was hard to handle and a danger to her younger siblings and therefore she was sent there. She was only twelve at the time.
