Summit George Stearns is the son of Elijah Stearns and Eliza Jones. The name Summit struck me at first, as well. When I discovered that he was born in Summit County, Akron OH, I accepted that, as odd as it seems, this was the connection of the name Summit. If, later I come accross the family name Summit, I will post it.
